General pest control in Officer & Cardinia Shire.
Modern synthetic pyrethroids plus insect growth regulator for longer residual. Internal + external + roof void + subfloor. Low-odour, APVMA-registered, safe around kids and pets once dry. One-off $200–$400, quarterly program $500–$800 per year.
The pests, the seasons, the treatment.
Spiders — year-round, peak Sep–Mar.
Black house spider in eaves and window frames. Huntsman everywhere (mostly harmless, but the kids panic). Golden orb in the garden (also harmless, removed on request). Redback in sheds, under outdoor furniture, in compost bins — this is the one we treat aggressively because the bite is medically significant. Treatment: perimeter spray under eaves, around external door and window frames, in sheds and garages, plus targeted removal of known nest sites. Lasts 4–6 months on external surfaces.
Ants — peak Dec–Mar.
Pavement ant and coastal brown ant are the big two in Officer and Cardinia Lakes — trail into kitchens, bathrooms, laundries through gaps under skirting and around plumbing penetrations. Sugar ant is the smaller one that nests in lawns and forages indoors after rain. Bull ant on bushland-edge blocks — large, aggressive, painful bite, treated with targeted nest applications. Treatment: residual spray at entry points, bait gels in active trail areas, perimeter spray to prevent re-entry.
Cockroaches — year-round, peak Mar–Jun.
German cockroach (kitchen-resident, breeds rapidly indoors) needs gel baiting plus residual spray around appliances and warm areas. American cockroach (outdoor, subfloor and roof void species, larger) needs subfloor treatment and external perimeter. We treat both routinely. Heavy infestations may need 2–3 treatments 2 weeks apart to break the breeding cycle.
Silverfish, slaters, earwigs.
Common in older Pakenham subfloors and roof voids where it’s dark and humid. Silverfish damage paper and natural fibres (books, photos, clothing). Treatment: roof void and subfloor dust application, perimeter spray.
Fleas.
Treated as a specialist job because flea eggs hatch over 6–8 weeks regardless of any spray. We treat all carpeted areas, pet bedding, subfloor (in stumped homes), and yard. Two-stage treatment 14 days apart catches the second-generation hatch. $280–$450 depending on house size.
Wasps & bees.
European wasp nests (the dangerous ones) get sustained-release dust applied directly into the nest entrance at dusk. Nest dies overnight. $150–$280. Native paper wasps usually relocated or treated minimally if posing a safety issue. European honey bee swarms — we refer to a beekeeper for relocation rather than killing.
Quarterly program (recommended).
4 treatments per year (typically Mar, Jun, Sep, Dec) at $125–$200 per visit. Stays ahead of every seasonal pressure cycle. $500–$800 for the year. We diarise the visits and remind you a week before each one. You don’t need to be home if you can leave us perimeter access.
